That sort of very slight nibble, or intersection, just looks like a mistake. Generally, when nibbling, a decisive nibble is better.

However, I agree that they could have possibly left an intact 6 there by positioning the numerals a tad farther out on the dial. Still, it would likely not be optimal and these compromises all stem from the choice to fit a small movement in a significantly larger watch.
