mayor10 dumb question of the month...
Mon, 04 November 2019 17:24
On a regular basis I receive coupons from Fred Meyer, now owned by Kroger. In short, each one of my purchases is monitored so that they know my buying habits, and send me the coupons that they know I probably will use. It is not usual for someone to go into a store and just use the coupons without buying something more; perhaps even something that just caught your eye. They want to make money off of those coupons.
This leads me to the new smartwatches, Fit bit, Apple, a couple of Chinese companies, etal. The newer ones, from what I understand, can track everything that you do with the watch. They monitor your usage, thereby gaining even more information on you. Your privacy continues to become less and less.
I do not like smartphones. Much less smartwatches. It is bad enough when a store knows your buying habits, but when your watch spies on you, too...?
My dumb question is this. Is ownership of a smartwatch worth the lost privacy? I won't, BTW, go into the worst case scenario with where your information could end up.
Just wondering, fellas. As always, thank you, and take care. Karl
