back from vacation, a special watch was waiting for me ...

one of the nice stories in a collector's life - (good!) changes in his lifestyle made a friend decide to sell off his watches over the last year, one of the last to remain was this 1946 Breitling Premier 777, one of my favorite references; massive gold, huge for the period at 38mm, still quite large for a "dressy" watch today.
So instead of looking for the highest price he could get in today's (inflated) market, he asked me to "take custody" of it, at the price he had originally paid, as he wanted the watch in hands who'd appreciate it. Very much do so; even more that gesture of friendship and generosity.
