Vintage Friday: hen's teeth Chronomat Fri, 04 November 2016 11:14 Go to previous message

for whatever reason, the Venus 178 variation of the 1940s Breitling Chronomat is among the rarest Breitling of all - we've seen one solid gold example and, up to now, three pieces in steel with original dials - rarer than the Rattrapantes, much rarer than the Valjoux R72 Navitimers, even less survivors than the widebezel Cosmonautes of 1962 or the 1950s SuperOceans.

so here's number four in steel - it arrived from service and repairs this Wednesday; complicated movement issues probably made the original owner put it in a drawer for half a century or more, as the watch looks almost unworn; dial & sliderule impeccable, the case razor sharp.
