Scammers on the sales forums Mon, 29 December 2014 16:29 Go to previous message

The number of scammers on the sales forums seems to be at an all time high. Every time I post a WTB ad I get a PM from some idiot with 0 posts who just joined the forum an hour ago telling me 'hi, I have your item'. They don't even have the brains to put the name of the watch in their PM. If I play along and ask for references communication ends. This has happened several times in the past week. It's gotten to the point where a WTB is a complete waste of time. To be fair, I'm not nearly as active on TZ as I was several years ago, for a variety of reasons. So post count isn't always indicative of a seller's worthiness. But I can back up my low post count on TZ with many solid references from this and other watch-related forums. It's pretty clear to me that someone who joined the forum an hour ago and claims he just happens to have the (rare) watch I'm looking for is not on the up and up. Not allowing members access to the sales forums until they have a minimum number of posts would go a long way to fixing this. This is commonly done on several other enthusiast forums and it works well.
