I always smile when I read a comment about "old man's watch" since it's all a matter of perception. It was your friend, of course, who held that opinion and I have no idea of his age nor yours since it doesn't show in your profile. I assume from the comment that he is a relatively young fellow and - since you are his friend - that you are, too? It matters not, really, since it's an opinion to which he is entitled. :)
In my case, I bought my first DateJust while shipping back home from the Far East in 1958. Coincidentally, I'm wearing a DateJust as I write this.
The question is ... was I, at age 19, wearing an 'old man's watch' or am I, as a septuagenarian, wearing a young man's watch? :-))
