Welcome to the German Brands Forum. You are certainly aware that besides those three major German brands that were already granted their own fora, there is much more to discover about German watchmaking. As such, we invite you to discuss and dwell on the numerous well established and smaller brands and manufacturers that cavort between Saxony and the Black Forest, between Glashuette and Pforzheim.
After a splendid industrial development in post WWII years until the early 70s, the German watchmaking industry suffered a hefty irruption due to the omnipresent victorious march of the quartz movements. Alongside the renaissance of mechanical movements swapping over from Switzerland in the late 80s, a number of long established businesses were revitalized in Western Germany. With the fall of the wall, the old tradition of Saxon manufacturing in the Eastern part joined in as well, rediscovering a rich tradition of mastership and establishing an alternative to Swiss excellence rich in tradition. As the old players expand their product lines and more and more new small brands sprout from various roots, there is much to discover about this new era of German watchmaking. Come in and find out!
