Not as simple as the rental car company, but AMEX offers a Premium Car Rental Protection plan. You have to enroll in it, but it becomes primary coverage for rentals where you use your enrolled AMEX. It's $24.95/rental up to 42 days for the maximum available coverage.

Visa may have something similar, but I'm not familiar with it.
