Like everyone on this forum, I have a problem; Trying to figure out what to add to my small collection of pieces.
Background:
I am a huge fan of the IWC brand. It represents an acceptable balance between history, craftsmanship, innovation, value and prestige. I also enjoy the generally "muted" nature of most of their pieces. Less than 5 years ago, I was in a different stage of my life and couldnot afford the IWC watches that appealed to me, this caused me to "look elsewhere" to satisfy my horological passion. One such brand that my searching back then has led to was Glashutte Original. They (to me) also has similar philosophies and appeal except of course their "history" and maybe "prestige". Despite my newly-developed "hoarding tendencies" (per my wife) towards IWC, I've remained very much connected with that brand from Germany.
Current:
I have a small collection of pieces that are all dear to my heart, that are carefully selected to compliment each other while individually able to suit my many "moods". I've gone thru a "maturation of taste" of sorts and now find myself at a crossroad.
Issue:
I would like my fellow WIS advise on selecting between the following pieces:
1. IWC BP Heritage 48:
Pros: limited
Looks
Size (compared to the 55 that is)
Weight (compared too 500912)
Cons: no sweeping seconds hand
Movement already featured in my collection
Size: my 5009 is quite uncomfortable on my styloid process, the larger diameter is a concern
OR
2: IWC Portofino Monopusher
Pros: compliments my collection
Complication (interesting to me)
Movement view
Movement view
Cons: price
Movement (base) already featured in my collection
Likely fragile/ repair cost
OR
3: Glashutte Original Senator Excellence Moonphase
Pros: price
Compliments my collection
Innovative movement
Sounds like it's well tested for accuracy and reliability before it's sold
Cons: not IWC
I probably can get 2 of the 3 listed. But that would require me buying at least 3 Chanel bags/ purses for my wife!
