I think we're in agreement, Rob...

Lange certainly could make 218 black enamel dials over the course of many years (or, taken to the extreme, they could make infinite black enamel dials over infinite years). I wrote my comment with the implied condition "in the short term" but probably should've explicitly stated that. From what I remember about the process, making a black enamel dial is more involved and time-consuming than making a white enamel dial, and we know how long it took to make (and sell) the white enamel dials for both the Langematik Anniversary ("LE" of 500) and the RL PLM (LE of 200) -- many, many years. I was assuming Lange would prefer to avoid a leisurely, multi-year production and delivery window, though of course that may be unavoidable if driven by the demand side of the equation.
