Not My Favorite Lange

A technical marvel I agree, but not my favorite Lange in terms of design. I was quite interested in the Pt version until I saw one in the metal. I was dismayed by how difficult it is to read the subdials and as others have noted, the moonphase is very disappointing. For my wrist I also found it to be rather large. I think Lange hit home runs with the design of other perpetual calendars (the 1815 RPC and the L1 Tourbillon PC) but in this case I think they flied out to the warning track.
I much prefer the Langematik Perpetual in Pt if you must have a perpetual. Missing the chrono function, but a great automatic movement. And there is also the Saxonia Annual Calendar with essentially the same movement as the Langematk Perpetual.
Another consideration for me when I was thinking about the Dato Perpetual - I have wondered if an updated version of the Dato Perpetual might be forthcoming in the near future. Since the introduction of the second generation Dato I have suspected that a second generation Dato Perpetual might be in the works.
