Omega goes to my Daugher's Prom Mon, 20 May 2013 00:40 Go to previous message

When my daughter Kathryn first showed me the dress she had bought to wear to the Prom, I realized why I liked it so much. It reminded me of one of my favorite Ladies watches. The pleats in the dress, the color, the sparkles reminded me of the current version of the Omega De Ville Ladymatic. Very appropriate for my daughter to be wearing IMO.

I own an Omega Ladymatic. It's a 1965 14k Gold, 17mm case diameter (smaller than a dime). This is among the smallest automatic wristwatches ever made. It has a faceted sapphire "sapphette" crystal. Applied gold logo and markers with onyx inlay. 17 jewel Caliber 660 adjusted to 2 positions. Lug width is 8mm. The "sapphette" crystal was intended to mimic the facets of a diamond. The watch is so small, my very petite daughter feels it's too small for her to wear. Here it is in comparison to my Omega Railmaster XXL "49er".

The watch she actually did wear to the Prom was her Omega Seamaster 120 18k/SS. In fact, she was wearing it prominently for her senior portrait with her twin brother Liam.

  • I agree, good eye. Good of her to get a wrist shot in on her senior portrait. [nt] - Damon - Mon, 20 May 2013 08:20 (338 clicks)
  • You have very good eyes. The Ladymatic is a perfect color match. - Ruckdee - Mon, 20 May 2013 07:17 (349 clicks)
