Heuer Autavia Viceroy with made in Hong Kong bracelet-what's the history?
Tue, 12 March 2013 15:39
I just got a beautiful Autavia Viceroy on a "beads of rice" bracelet from the original owner (it was purchased in 1976 with this bracelet on the watch). The bracelet says Made in Hong Kong on the inside of the clasp, and the letters "HLF" on the end of the band are clearly not the same fonts as a Gay Freres band. So, I am curious: did jewlers back then switch out the original tropic leather bands for these aftermarket MIHK bands on a regular basis? Did Heuer have any say or intervention on this act? I am ambivalent about keeping the MIHK band so want to learn more about this before I decide whether to sell the band or keep it. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.
