Sat, 09 March 2013 20:11
Hi All,
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Panerai NY Boutique to look at some of the exceptional pieces they have in stock. Fortunately, I was allowed to bring my camera so that I can share some of the highlights with you all.
Located at 545 Madison Avenue in the heart of Manhattan, the Boutique opened its doors in November 2008, and contains an incredible selection of new Panerai watches within its compact 710 square foot space.
The exterior is framed in handsome steel and glass...
Upon entering, you'll immediately notice a large Panerai clock covering a large portion of the back wall, and, on the right, an elegant, curved wood-paneled wall showcasing a selection of Panerai timepieces.
Sales specialist and Panerai expert Lindsey Steinhoff was busy working when I was taking my photos...
The left side of the Boutique displays a large maritime scene, flanked by two portholes with watches inside. Wooden client desks also serve as showcases...
Framed, historic Panerai patents decorate the back wall...
Let's take a closer look at some of the impressive timepieces they have in stock. Please forgive the dust and fingerprints!
Radiomir Tourbillon Skeleton, PAM 348
Launched in 2010, the PAM 348 features a 30-second tourbillon, GMT (second timezone) function, six days of power reserve, and a power reserve indication on the back of the movement. The fully skeletonized, in-house Panerai cal. P.2005/S is housed in a black zirconium oxide ceramic case measuring 48 mm in diameter.
Luminor 1950 Equation of Time Tourbillon, PAM 365
Another superbly complicated Panerai, the PAM 365 was also launched in 2010. It combines a 30-second tourbillon, equation of time, sunrise/sunset indications, and a celestial star chart customizable to the view of the night sky at the owner's locale. The in-house caliber P.2005/G provides 4 days of power reserve, and is cased in a 50 mm titanium case.

Radiomir Tourbillon GMT, PAM 315
Housed in a 48 mm titanium case, a more simple tourbillon than the prior two watches but still based on the Panerai caliber 2005. It features a GMT indicator within the seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, a 24-hour indicator at 3 o'clock, and a power reserve indicator on the movement side...
Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT, PAM 306
A Luminor 1950 version of the PAM 315...in a 47 mm titanium case...
Together with the PAM 315...
Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic, PAM 389
Featuring a distinctive rotating bezel in ceramic and brushed titanium, the self-winding PAM 389 is water resistant to 300 meters. The case and solid caseback are in titanium, and house the in-house Panerai caliber P.9000 self-winding movement with three days of power reserve.
Radiomir S.L.C. 3 Days, PAM 425
Part of Panerai's Historic collection, the sandwich dial is inspired by an alternating dot and bar-shaped design found on early Panerai watches dating to the 1930s. S.L.C. stands for Siluro a Lento Corso - the low-speed torpedoes rode on by Italian Navy personnel. An embossed rendering of an S.L.C. is found at 6 o'clock. The stainless steel Radiomir-style case measures 47 mm in diameter and houses Panerai's caliber P.3000 manual-winding movement.
Luminor 1950 3 Days, PAM 372
Also from the Historic collection, the PAM 372 features a sandwich dial, curved plexiglas crystal, stainless steel case, and a manual-winding, in-house movement - the P.3000.
Luminor Marina 1950 3 Days, PAM 422
The third and final Historic piece I had the opportunity to photograph, this PAM 422 features a seconds indication at 9 o'clock...
The PAM 422, 425, and 372 together...
Other interesting Panerai's spotted around the Boutique...
A rare, complete set of 10-Day GMT Radiomirs, in platinum (PAM 495), rose gold (PAM 497), and white gold (PAM 496)...
Special thanks to Panerai's Veruska Williams-Molitor, the NY Boutique Director, and Michele Gallagher, who both kindly invited me. Thanks also to the Boutique's warm and gracious sales staff - Alexander Falvai and Lindsey Steinhoff. This was my first visit to the Boutique, and I'm looking forward to my next!
