Visit to boutique
Sat, 23 February 2013 12:59
Last week I visited the Madison Avenue boutique in NYC and met SAM for the first time. I've been shopping at the boutique since it opened and have been honored to purchase 4-5 pieces from them over the years from Kevin, Nicole and Jacquelin.
Sam is a great guy and showed me everything in a friendly and knowledgable manner. If I ever win re lottery I would like his job. I can't afford to live in NYC and if I worked there I'd be tempted to buy too many watches.
Anyway, I live in Washington, D.C. Most of the time and was in NYC for meetings and an interview. I had to stop by the boutique and I'm glad I did. My enthusiasm got the best of me and I forgot to take the number of pictures I had wanted to. The breadth of pieces available was impressive. My picks are 1) the AquaLung tribute to the Fifty Fathoms 2) the FF brushed steel, blue dial chronograph version with day/date registers 3) the three hand FF blue dial on strap or bracelet 4) and of the Leman case 40mm pieces since they ring so true to the old days and my long ago purchase of the 2885F on the X-71 which I own to this day. What a watch. Never been in for service although I envy the super shiny versions I see here on the site. They will ultimately look like mine, but it'll be fun wearing it during the process.
If you get near NYC you should call and tell Sam you're coming by. He'll give you a fabulous review of the offerings. Also, let me tip my hat to the very nice doorman/security guard who has been at the boutique since the day it opened. I forgot his name but he was kind and gracious as well.
