Who knew it was a contest? Tue, 19 February 2013 20:47 Go to previous message

A few months back Howard posted for opinions/guesses on what AP might release at SIHH. After enjoying my Legacy and seeing how well executed it was I felt pretty confident it was only a matter of time until AP introduced ceramic cases to their regular production lines. They did a similar thing with Forged Carbon, testing in out in the Alinghi before introducing FC into regular production. Also perhaps with Ti and the RBII (not sure if there was a preexisting Ti model). I think it's great that they can use these more avant garde pieces as a test bed for new materials. Apparently Howard was treating this as a contest of sorts and my projection was close enough that it earned me something special.

Today I received a fedex from Jasmine and David at the AP Bal Harbour boutique with he lovely fountain pen pictured below. My sincere thanks to Howard, Jasmine and David. AP is obviously interested in us forum members who care so much for this brand. It's great the boutique participated in this with Howard as it demonstrates AP's interest in us collectors. We are all fortunate to wear something so special on a daily basis.

As an aside, the fact that the ceramic case was introduced into the diver and 44mm ROO lines indicates to me that these lines have good longevity ahead of them. The fact that no 42mm piece was introduced in ceramic is consistent with the chairmans inference that the 42mm line is due for an update in the not too distant future. No sense in introducing the new ceramic case into a line due for an overhaul.

Now I need to go find something important to sign.
