An afternoon with the new IWC Ingenieur Collection Tue, 19 February 2013 11:24 Go to previous message

IWC provides Timezone with this preview of the latest Ingenieur Collection that delivers later this Spring. The preview was nearly complete, except for the new constant force tourbillon and carbon fibre models. We'll have to return once these models become available. In the meantime, please enjoy the following:

Ingenieur Automatic, Ref 3239
The simplest and most traditional of the new Ingenieur Collection, the Ingenieur Automatic respects Gerald Genta's design cues and the movement is fitted with a soft-iron inner cage for protection against magnetic fields. Three dial variations are white with rose gold markers, black and silver. The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and just 10 mm thick. The integrated bracelet is impeccably finished with both satin-brushed surfaces and mirror polished contact points.

Ingenieur Dual Time Titanium, Ref 3264
The new Ingenieur Dual Time Titanium begins the new extension into motorsport design cues and materials. The dial is inspired by a Formula One instrument-panel combined with lightweight titanium case and rubber-clad titanium crown guards and crown. The grey dial is legible and, on the outer 24-hour ring, the hand with the white triangle keeps track of a second time. With an accessible price-point, the Dual Time is a handsome and reasonably priced simple complication. The 45 mm titanium case is fitted with a black rubber strap.

Ingenieur Doppel ("Double") Chronograph Titanium, Ref 3865
The design and materials of this model are inspired by Formula One with its instrument-panel dial, titanium, ceramic and rubber materials and new Calibre 79420 split-seconds chronograph movement. The movement is an evolution of the rattrapante mechanism IWC developed, patented and independently produces in its factory. The integrated titanium pushers are rubber-clad and blend seamlessly with the crown guards without compromising any functionality. The rattraprante/split-seconds hand is operated by the pusher at 10 o'clock. Not only do the pushers look good, they are firm and responsive with no play. The 45 mm titanium case is fitted with a black rubber strap; the screw heads in the bezel are ceramic and, with its solid titanium case back, the timepiece is altogether light as a feather.

Ingenieur Chronograph Racer, Ref 3784
The Ingenieur Chronograph Racer features a flyback chronograph and tachymeter scale with a motorsport instrument-panel inspired dial. The timepiece houses the IWC manufacture Caliber 89361 movement with double-pawl winding and 68-hour power reserve. Two dial variations are silver or ardoise. The stainless steel case measures 45 mm and is fitted with either the integrated stainless steel bracelet or a canvas-covered black rubber strap.

Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil ("Silver Arrow"), Ref 3785
The Ingenieur Chronograph Silberpfeil ("Silver Arrow") features a flyback chronograph and tachymeter scale and engine-turned dial that is nod to the legendary 1930s Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W25 with the same circular-grain dashboard. The timepiece houses the IWC manufacture Caliber 89361 movement with double-pawl winding and 68-hour power reserve. This edition is limited in production and features either a silver or brown engine-turned dial and a specially engraved solid caseback. The stainless steel case measures 45 mm and is fitted with a unique black rubber and brown calfskin strap.

Ingenieur Automatic AMG Black Series Ceramic, Ref 3225
The Ingenieur Automatic AMG Black Series Ceramic is sleek and features a black ceramic case with both a high-gloss finish on the bezel and matte finish on the lugs, case sides, crown guards, crown and caseback. The watch is equipped with IWC's in-house Calibre 80110. Two dial variations include black or brown. The 46 mm ceramic case is fitted with either a canvas-covered black rubber strap or leather-covered black rubber strap.

Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month, Ref 3792
The Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month is a sleek timepiece with three semi-transparent totalizers on the dial: the month indicator is at 3 o'clock, the subsidiary seconds and leap year indicator are at 6 o'clock, and the date at 9 o'clock. The integrated titanium pushers are rubber-clad and firm and responsive. The chronograph hour and minute indicators are at 12 o'clock. The 46 mm titanium aluminide case houses the 51-jewel IWC manufacture Calibre 89802 with a cut-out rotor.

Special thanks to Casey and Lindsay of the IWC Costa Mesa Boutique for the collection preview and for being our Timezone wrist models!

I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about. Wilde
