Technical question on cermet for Howard or anybody else in the know Wed, 13 February 2013 10:43 Go to previous message

Does anybody have technical details on the cermet material used in the Schumacher bezel? I was looking at the TZ JLC forum and they announced a new chrono using "cermet" but from the description it sounds like a hybrid material with an aluminum matrix infused with ceramic and then coated with a ceramic skin. Very different than the cermet used by AP which my understanding is a ceramic/metal mixture solid throughout, CNC machined to shape and then finished to AP's standards. If anybody has specific knowledge on these materials please share. Would love to know which metal is the one in AP's cermet. Any technical details or higher understanding would be most appreciated.
