I get a huge kick out of sharing my obsession with fine watches by spreading the love throughout our family. My son and nephew have both received great watches and they both are certified "watch nuts" now. For Xmas I found a marvelous and nearly-pristine 18k Rolex "Date" that was minted the year my wife graduated high school ('67 - don't tell her I told you). We've added that to her collection and she adores it.
Our middle daughter turns 40 in a few months. That's a big deal for us (her too I'm sure!). For months I've scoured the boards and auction sites looking for that perfect piece. I found it over the weekend. It's a 3,XXX,XXX (1973) "Buckley" dial TT Datejust. '73 was the year of her birth. Although the Jubilee bracelet is understandably stretched, the watch is all original, in marvelous condition and when presented will have an engraving of her scripted initial "E" and her birth date on the back. This kid is going to fly to the moon as she has always coveted her mom's Rolex watches. I think I'm more excited for her than she's going to be :>) Hey, this hobby is supposed to be fun. so just thought I'd share.
Cheers!
