I survived the agonizing four day wait and my brand new Superocean 42 finally arrived yesterday.
When I first saw this watch, I just hated it. The oversized numbers, indexes and hands; the font; the lack of a lumed triangle on the bezel; the colors; just about everything was so wrong. Somehow - like with so many other watches - my opinion was completely turned after a while.
This is one watch that just turns alive in the metal. No pictures (esp. mine) can capture the three dimensional effects on the dial, when light and shadow play with the numbers. The dial is beautifully balanced and the hands and numbers are just the right size for this watch. Even the 60 in the bezel seems to be just right, the triangle I once wanted has lost its appeal. The Breitling yellow is just beautiful and when you throw in the polished steel case, the overall effect leaves me wordless. Only one thing I'd like to add to this stunner: applied metal frame for the dial aperture would furthermore balance the dial.
Here's what you've all been waiting for, the Pictures. I'm sorry my photo do not match Ron's or Frank's. BTW guys, did you know that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. You'll see what I mean... =)
