Hi All,
I had the good fortune of being able to photograph most of Richard Mille's new introductions at this year's SIHH during my 30 minute appointment. All pieces were in strong demand - I literally had no more than one minute to take my shots in some cases!
Entering the booth, one finds a huge mock-up of a Richard Mille movement...
Tourbillon RM 27-01 Rafael Nadal
Designed in collaboration with Rafael Nadal, the ultra-light RM 27-01 weighs in at just 19 grams including its strap. The material used for the monobloc case/caseback - carbon nanotubes - enables this ultra light weight. The movement is attached to the case by four braided steel cables, held taught by tensioners (found at 3 and 9 o'clock) and pulleys.
Capteur de G Tourbillon Jean Todt RM 036
Announced last month, then RM 036 was created for former Ferrari CEO Jean Todt and combines a tourbillon with a G Force indicator.
Tourbillon Yohan Blake RM 59-01
Made for Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake, aka "The Beast", the RM 59-01 features an asymmetric green-colored case made of translucent composite injected with carbon nanotubes. Blake wears watches on his right wrist, so the case flares outward from left to right to make it more aerodynamic while on his wrist. The green and yellow sweeping "Beast claws" are functional bridges that secure the movement to the case.
Roberto Mancini RM 11-01
Made for Roberto Mancini, manager of Manchester City Football Club, the RM11-01 allows for the tracking of extra time during soccer matches.
Tourbillon RM 56-01 Sapphire Crystal
Like last year's incredible RM 56 Sapphire Crystal, the entire case of the RM 56-01 is made of sapphire crystal. Going even further, the baseplate, central bridge, and third wheel of the RM 56-01's movement is also made of sapphire crystal to maximize transparency. Nanotechnology was used to fabricate the transparent strap, in a process never used before in watchmaking. Made in just five examples.
