*** SINN TEGIMENTED STEEL...THOUGHTS? *** Thu, 10 January 2013 21:56 Go to previous message

Hello!

I recently just bought the standard U1. I have been wearing it for a week now and love it! I have gotten compliments on it already too, which surprised me a bit. People actually knew what it was....

Well, of course you always buy something then, you want the next "best" thing right?. In my case the T version.

This led me to to hours of research on the Tegimented steel, which led to it naturally being compared to "Ice Hardening" - which seems to be superior overall.

TO THE POINT:

After all me research I am thinking I may have inadvertently made the right? decision going with the non-T version. Surprisingly I found articles talking about damaged "t" cases. One guy even went as far as to purposely scratching it - maybe not fair? Links below....It sounds like while, the T coating is actually in the metal, it is only on the surface leaving the layers underneath soft. This creates the "egg shell" effect( basically a dent) if hit hard enough, since the surface below is softer not leaving the harder metal at top the proper "support" when hit. And once this has been done on a T case it requires a case swap as reversing the flaw is close to impossible due to how hard it is. Whereas the standard version could be fixed easier?

On a side note, I seem to knock my watches on door frames or whatever I may be walking by in close proximity more then lightly brush them against something which would could inhibit the "light" scratch this coating seems to protect. I don't know if one of these knocks are considered what would be enough to "dent" the T. One guy in a post said he knocked his on a light post and there was a mark - that would be something I would do lol.

As it is probably pretty clear I am looking for all the reasons NOT to go after the T version since I already have the standard . I posting this new thread for people to correct me if I am wrong. If Sinn had the Ice-Hardening I think I would spring for it for sure. Its seems superior as it protect the entire case.

OPINIONS???

Here are a couple links to some of the articles I found more, but these were the ones I thought to bookmark:
