I had really been wanting a Seamaster Lollipop for some time and this one, coming from the nephew of the original owner looked to have exactly what I had been searching for, provenance and character. Although rough I thought there was enough potential there to make it a worthwhile project.
.
With the scars of over 50 years of use but also all the charm that comes from such experience I decided to keep the visual history and integrity of the watch intact, but it still had to look good, be wearable and above all still be able to do its job.
The week before Christmas I happily received the call from my watchmaker to say that it was finally ready for collection.
I'm really happy with the results and hope you'll agree it looks great.
The work carried out (not by me I hasten to add! ) was:
Movement: complete service.
Case: only cleaned, but the part of the case that looks like an inner bezel was lightly brushed to even out the worst of the pitting. New gaskets and checked waterproof to 10 bar.
Bezel: restored in Italy to factory spec. new bearings.
Dial: no work.
Inner rehaut: brushed.
Hour and minute hands: no work.
Seconds hand: Straightened, lume repair, lume stabilisation and paint restored to the missing area.
Glass: new glass.
7912 Bracelet: repaired, brushed and polished to original finish.
I also got the Omega extract too as the finishing touch
