I said it many times that the Royal Oak is for me the most iconic watch design ever made.
Unfortunately my last two attempts with this watch failed, mostly due to comfort reason :
- the ROO Panda with leather strap was wearing very top heavy due to the overall weight and height
- the ROC was not comfortable due to the steel bracelet and folding clasp
As known, the RO's and ROO's with steel bezel are very scratch sensitive and I could never wear
them simply forgetting them!
I also developed some personal reservations against the chrono movement, mostly because of the difficulties
to correctly set the minute hand.
I still wanted a Royal Oak in my collection, but which one would fit all of my requirements?
Almost by chance I stumbled over the new forged carbon diver.
My reaction to this watch can be summarized as follows :
- saw it in pictures : not impressed !
- saw it in the window of the AD : interested !
- handled it for the first time : impressed !
- first time on my wrist : need to have it !
This watch, due to it's reduced weight and the rubber strap, is now really comfortable on my wrist.
On top, the ceramic bezel makes it scratch proof and the forged carbon case is really unique.
This is definitely a watch that needs to be handled to fully appreciate it.
Finally, the fact that this watch was given to me by my wife as a Christmas present makes it even more
precious to me : a definite keeper in my collection and the perfect weekend and vacation watch!
