To sum up 2012 and still stuck
Sat, 22 December 2012 08:53
Still stuck between modern and vintage. Not really modern and not really vintage. That is me.
This year has added two Rolexes to the collection and two others has been altered.
The Rolex part of the year (I have other brands too) started with the "Plain DJane" project. A 1603 was modified to a 1601 (smooth bezel being the only difference) and fitted with a slate grey dial. Here in two different lightings:
Somewhere during spring I could not resist getting an OQ17000 when I got the chance.
During the summer I realized I am just a middle-aged, grey guy and swapped dials in my 16518 Daytona from a white with diamonds to a black without.

In the end of 2012 I at last found a nice early, i e with lugholes, 14270 Explorer. It is not easy to find a good one of these but it was worth the wait.
These joined the others and with below pictures this post also doubles as a 2012 Rolex-SOTC:
16520 "Zenith"
Explorer II
Sea-Dweller
GMT II TT
GMT II Pepsi
Submariner - yes, same strap as on SD but it has since then got its oyster back
