Cool Vintage Chrono - Destination Tokyo (1943) Tue, 18 December 2012 01:05 Go to previous message

Apologies if this has been discussed here before, but was flipping through channels this evening and came across a great old war movie - "Destination Tokyo". Made during the height of the war in 1943, the movie features Cary Grant, John Garfield, and Alan Hale. What really caught my attention though, was a night time raid scene where John Garfield checks his watch several times. It is a two register chronograph with the name Aerotel on the dial. Turns out Aerotel was actually a Swiss brand that used Ed Heuer marked Landeron cal. 13 movements. Probably a little small by today's standards, it is a nice looking watch none the less. Managed a screen grab:

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first." - Mark Twain (1835-1910)
