In Japan, we have end-of-the-year parties (called "bonenkai") to forget the past year - think that is what it literally means. TBH, just seems like a great way to end the year (booze, booze, a little food, and more booze!) - though if you are "popular" you may have to attend one of them every day throughout the month of Dec. One's liver takes a beating! ;-)
Anyway, last night we had a GTG here in Tokyo to help forget the past year with some faces you may be familiar with as well as a few new faces. Great food, more than a little booze, a skull (can't have a great party without one!), and of course WATCHES - glorious watches!! Enjoy!
Went out for some very impressive Mexican food and here are some of the usual suspects:
Actually went backwards where the food came first. Guess everyone was hungry after a long day at work.
And then we had a rock-scissors-paper contest to see who would win some prizes:
Yours truly didn't win bubkis, though. :-(
That's OK cause there were some great watches! Ebata-san and his 341 in all its glory! (Doesn't quite go with a suit, does it?) ;-)
A tukus shot of my 320 and the beautiful JLC movement of a 190! Oh how I want a 190!
Sato-san with a nice pair. (Nice may be the understatement of the year!) ;-)
And some great music with
everyone in sombreros!
Main dish was very impressive (one of two if I recall)!
And we finally started pulling out the watches!
And the pile kept growing and growing!!
A pretty decent close-up:
AND EVEN A SKULL!!! That dude starting wearing them even!
The 341 as a hat - who would have thunk it?!
Three very special amigos!
With all the booze flowing - I even started seeing double!
And the group shot!
And that skull (a true Risti) was quite at home with our watches!
A fine pair of gents and their loved ones!
The food never stopped coming! Dish after dish! Ralph put together a great GTG, indeed! Here we finally get to the dessert and the guys were turning green! ;-)
And another set of "Three Amigos"
And that's how we rang out the year Tokyo Risti style!
Hope you and your loved ones have a great holiday season.
