An Early Christmas

Greetings,
My wife and I intended to wait until Christmas to exchange these watches, but we decided they would be happier on our wrists rather than waiting under the tree.
She caught the Rolex bug....on a whim last month she advised she wanted to go to an AD to see what models she might like. She had never really expressed any personal interest in Rolex for herself.
She tried several on to include the OP, AK, and DJ.....and there she saw it: a NOS 36mm Explorer that had been sitting in the shop for the past three years! She was over the moon with the watch and of course, I was very excited over its associated provenance with Everest, etc....
As for me, I've never been a TT guy, but I remember an old lifeguard instructor from the 1980s sporting his 16613 and that watch left an indelible image on me. I really longed for the watch at the time, but for some reason, it never made it to my collection. So, since all the upgrades have come out, I figured what better time than now?
