Quick trip to Central Vietnam Fri, 14 December 2012 10:00 Go to previous message

I had a quick business trip up to the central of Vietnam. Ruckdee wanted some photos, so here you are. The first leg was a 13 hour overnight train ride. More backpacker style accommodations than anything else, and as it was mostly at night, and I was on a top bunk, there was not much to see. This was done to support a recently signed distributor of one of our product lines. After two days in Quang Ngai, it was up to Da Nang, Vietnam's third city and the heart of the central region of the country. The beaches in Da Nang are incredible and the city has a vibe to it that is unequaled by any other city in Vietnam. If you can call a city of one million people quaint, then that would be a good name for it. Life is slower, quieter, and less complicated here. After two days of sales calls, I had a chance to visit a local temple, talk with some fishermen, and give you an idea as to how empty the beaches really are here. It was overcast and rainy throughout my time here, otherwise I would have taken a few more snapshots.

I am not Vietnamese, but am fortunate to be able to speak the language. The highlight of my trip was to get out of the major cities and spend time mixing with a very diverse group of people. I enjoy talking to the fishermen as much as I do the local businessmen. After four days and a successful trip, I am happy to be back in my own bed.

I have a watch incoming, but it won't be in my possession for six more weeks. Patience.....

Incredible empty beaches

Obligatory watch content

Though a tourist town, there is still plenty of fishing in the bay

Two local fishermen using some creative shrimp nets

A local fisherman repairing his fishnets

Another obligatory wrist shot

A newly erected statue of the Quang Am Buddhist God.
