Girard-Perregaux Launches Hawk in Miami (Long) Sun, 09 December 2012 16:14 Go to previous message

Girard-Perregaux Launches New Hawk Sport Watch During Miami Art Basel Week
Hosting provided by FotoTime
Art Basel Miami Beach is one of the most prestigious art shows in the Americas and this year Girard-Perregaux chose this venue to further it's contribution to social causes and to make it's first big release of 2013 the new Hawk collection of sport watches.

Foreverglades and Girard-Perregaux

Girard-Perregaux was a sponsor of Foreverglades-an environmentally minded public art exhibition that was part of Art Basel Miami Beach. The event was held at Miami Dade Colleges Freedom Tower. The exhibition which was by International Artist William Sweetlove and artists collective, Cracking Art Group establishes a locally conscious perspective focusing on environmental protection, sustainability and advocacy of South Florida's National Parks and Reserves.

Day one of the two day event started off with a morning reception for numerous city of Miami officials and VIPs. Sowind (Girard-Perregaux and Jean Richard) CEO Michele Sofisti spoke and gave G-P continued commitment to social and environmental causes and in particular Foreverglades.

As part of the mornings events Sofisti presented one of the 10 limited edition Foreverglades Sea Hawks to President of Miami Dade College Dr. Eduardo Padron for all of his hard work in making this initiative possible.

The morning's reception included several guest speakers including Adolfo Barattolo, Consul General of Italy in the United States.

The morning concluded with a few words from the artist William Sweetlove.

He explained what his exhibit represented and talked about some of his previous installations around the world.

Girard-Perregaux guest returned to the Freedom Tower in the evening this time for a cocktails and a private viewing of the work in the gallery.

It also gave me to time to visit with Mike Margolis, President of Girard-Perregaux and Jean Richard in North America and Paul Erhardt, Jean Richard Sales Director.

Mike is a passionate person whether it is watches or bike riding and it was a pleasure to finally meet him in person for the first time. It also gave me the opportunity to hear Mike's vision for G-P in North America and I know it will be an exciting year

Paul Erhardt is an experienced professional with his work clearly cut out for him as Jean Richard looks to re-invent itself in 2013.

Also during the reception Girard-Perregaux General Manager Stefano Macaluso took in the festivities and even left with one of the artist signature pieces

After the reception we headed to dinner at Tuyo Restaurant.

Finally G-P guests and VIPs were able to handle and wear all of the watches of the new Hawk Collection. The low lighting of the restaurant did not allow for great photography but here are a few pictures from that night ( I like to blame the lighting but maybe it was the wine that caused the poor photography)

The collection was well received by G-P visitors and VIPs. It is definitely a group of watches you will have to see in person to truly appreciate. The one complaint I did hear was regarding the limited edition Foreverglades Sea Hawk-why did G-P only make 10 and those are spoken for. When I saw original pictures it was hard to draw an opinion but in person it is a stunning watch.

When will the remainder of the watches show up in Dealers and Boutiques-soon was Michele's response not soon enough was Mike Margolis reply.

It was a great event for G-P and I believe the new Hawk collection will be a hit

Best Regards

Kevin
