A couple old and rather small Bulovas... Fri, 30 November 2012 14:51 Go to previous message

I took some snaps to share elsewhere, and thought this post might be appreciated here as well. Cheers,
Brad

Boy, watches were small then.

Late 1930s Bulova Ambassador and ca. 1940s Bulova cocktail watch:

The men's watch belonged to a great-uncle of mine. Dig the hinged caseback and the ancient alligator straps. This was made at the height of Art Deco watch design. It's almost a surprise to find a round movement inside that streamlined shape--the only other round element is the crown. The watch is quite a bit smaller than those most women wear today.

I bought this vintage dress watch for my wife many years ago...it has lots of real (though tiny) diamonds:

'Gift' is a noun; 'fail' is not.
