Hi All,
Here's another wonderful wristwatch found at the Vacheron NY Boutique - the Patrimony Contemporary Self-Winding Collection Excellence Platine limited edition.
Launched in 2011 in a limited edition of 150 pieces, this is the second Patrimony Contemporaine model within the Collection Excellence Platine series. The first, ref. 81180 launched in 2006, featured a manual winding movement, Vacheron's caliber 1400, housed inside a 40 mm case. Long sold out, it too was a limited edition of just 150 pieces.
This second, self-winding version of the Patrimony Contemporaine, ref. 43150, increased the case diameter to 42 mm, with other, subtle changes to the aesthetic. Of course, the major difference is the use of the automatic caliber 1120 movement in place of the cal. 1400. Other changes compared with the ref. 81180 include the use of an exhibition caseback and faceted baton hands.
Like all Collection Excellence Platine watches, the case is solid platinum as is the dial...
The display back allows one to view the caliber 1120, the world's thinnest full-rotor automatic, in production since 1967. Stamped with the Geneva Seal, the finishing is superb throughout...
A subtle marking between the dial's 4 and 5 o'clock markers indicates that the dial is made of solid platinum...
The case measures just 7.8 mm thick, enabled by the ultra-thin cal. 1120 that's just 2.45 mm thick...
The stitching of the strap, amazingly, is made of solid platinum threads...
