Hi Everyone,
I'm really pleased to present my newest acquisition, a W serial 16570 with a cream dial.
I know there some out there for whom the cream 16550 is the only true cream Explorer, but if you scour the web like I've been doing lately, you'll find a handful of these 16570's in our community. They tend to be from the late 80's and early 90's (R, L, E, X, and N serials). This is the 2nd one I've seen from ca 1994.
The color of this particular one is hard to capture accurately with the camera, but it's definitely a creamy, milky, off-white with a slight yellowish hue. Off the bat my wife described it as 'ecru.' Call it what you will, but I like it a lot. If I can bear to part with it soon, I'll send it to RSC Dallas for service (no dial change, of course) and getting the hands changed to black. I'm hoping RSC service papers will help legitimize this watch and put to rest any questions as to whether we can call it a true cream Explorer.
