Grand carrera problem...
Tue, 30 October 2012 14:14
I am the proud owner of this Grand Carrera that I got as a valentine's day gift three years ago.
Never had a problem with it until last spring where it started to get harder and harder to screw the crown back on after adjusting the time/winding the watch. By mid summer, I just could not screw it back on so this fall I took it back to my AD who sent it out for service. A full service was performed and my watch came back looking like new with a well functionning crown :-)
So far so good. That is until last friday where I Friday up an showed early for a lunch appointment. I figured since it was dark in the morning when I put the watch on, I must've set the wrong time by an hour before winding it (you guessed I had not put it on for a while and it was stopped). So I corrected the time and moved on...until I noticed it was running fast again. When I got home I made sure it was fully wound and listened to the movement. I could tell by ear something was not normal, the frequency was dfinitely off. definitely I put the chrono on and chrono it for benchmarked minute with another chrono that I chrono and the Tag ran 10 seconds too fast...per minute! If you do the math, that is 4 hours a day!!!
The next morning it had already gained two hours so the +10 sec/min is consistent. I know have not dropped nor hit the watch in any way and since it just came back from service, proper maintenance is definitely not the problem.
I really like this watch so you can imagine my disapointment. Has anyone else disappointment such a big rate problem?
Obviously, I am going to take it back to the AD but I am not happy about havng to pay again for a having service when I just got the watch back...
Disappointing.
