Girard-Perregaux 1966 Petite Seconde-Bridging the old world with the new Fri, 26 October 2012 00:08 Go to previous message

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 petite second hand was released in 2011. I initially saw this watch in one of Jorge's post on the Public Forum. Now almost two years after the initial announcement of its release and having handled it several times in person I have some thoughts on this time piece.

The styling of this particular 1966 gives it a link to old world tradition. Girard-Perregaux's inspiration Girard-Perregaux's the watch was the design of some it's 19th century pocket watches. The small second hand and blued hands are reminiscent of these pocket watches. Another timeless feature is the use of Grand Feu enamel Feu the dial. This detail adds to the unique character of the watch and makes it appealing to those looking for that little something extra.

The 40 mm case gives the watch a modern size and strikes a balance between the dress watches of a bygone era. Although the 40 mm size is a bit large for a dress watch for some the 9.94 mm thicknes gives the watch thickness nice discreet fit on the wrist.

The GP03300-0050 is finely decorated and is a pleasure to view through the sapphire crystal.
