Santoni strap for my Portuguese Hand-Wound Sat, 15 September 2012 15:11 Go to previous message

While at the Boutique with Adam yesterday, I wanted to see whether a Santoni strap would fit my Portuguese. I'd been told that they had been created expressly for the Portofino line.

I find Santoni straps to be perhaps the most handsomely multi-toned, burnished and finished straps in the business. Noreen found two of them that fit the 545408's case and buckle. Here's the watch on its original and the two Santonis that fit:

We all took a vote about which one I should get. Adam and Noreen out-voted me and I went with their suggestion - the darker of the two. Wow! After leaving the Boutique, I happened upon a reflecting pool a few blocks away. I could be a 1930's seafarer, roving the blue waters of the South Seas, freshly equipped with my new nautically inspired IWC.....
