In March voters in Schaffhausen underlined their trust in IWC, a firm rich in tradition, by giving the thumbs up at the polls to plans for expansion of the company’s site.
The watch manufacturer IWC has not only become one of the region’s biggest employers, but has also invested for many years in the Schaffhausen production site.
“Around 750 people work at the central headquarters. We’ve created more than 300 jobs in the past ten years - including 250 in the last five alone - and have invested around 100 million Swiss Francs in the site”, explained Georges Kern, the company’s CEO. “Expansion of the site approved by the people will make it possible to create additional jobs and invest around 25 million Swiss Francs over the next three years”.
Accordingly, the construction of a production site in Merishausertal (SH) is planned for the beginning of 2015.
