Welcome to the Cartier Forum
For over a century, Cartier has produced wristwatches whose designs have transcended trends and can count among its loyal customers pashas and princes, heads of state and celebrities. "Cartier is the king of jewelers and the jeweler to kings" is a well-known quote attributed to one of the House's royal--and most loyal--customers.
A lesser known fact, however, is that Cartier designed and produced some horologically significant timepieces. For example, the iconic Tank adopted the lines of the war machine of the First World War and has the distinction of being a military-inspired wristwatch. Louis Cartier's aviator friend, Alberto Santos-Dumont, wanted to read the time without removing his hands from the controls of his flying machine and thus the first aviator's wristwatch was born.
Rooted in tradition and history, the House of Cartier continues to produce some of the most desirable wristwatches today. The recent offerings from their Collection Privée with their high-grade and workshop-quality movements, for example, never fail to fascinate and intrigue the watch aficionado. With these oeuvres, the past is recaptured and time regained.
