New Limited Edition Panerai comes with "experiences" Thu, 24 January 2019 00:06 Go to next message

Just wanted to check with you guys - some of the new Limited Edition Panerai novelties come with "experiences" like:

1. training with Italian Commandos
2. Diving with Guilluame Nery
3. Adventure exploration with Mike Horn

While these sound cool, do people actually want to do any of this? The price of these experiences appear factored into the prices of the watches.

2 & 3 seem fine enough but doing basic training with the Italian commandos (even if the watch is very cool) seems a bit extreme

I believe that all three "experience" models have been sold out >>>> Thu, 24 January 2019 09:19 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Someone is obviously interested in each of these experiences!

Doesn't every single Panerai owner consider those adventures Thu, 24 January 2019 11:13 Go to previous messageGo to next message

before buying a Panerai? The watch evokes that same sense of adventure & history. Everything about the construction, decorative elements (Siluro a Lenta Corsa), & the watch model names themselves are a tribute to these same kinds of adventure & history - Marina Militare (from the Palombari della Marina Militare), Mare Nostrum (Latin for "Our Sea" & Roman name for the Mediterranean Sea), Decima Mas (from the famous WWII Decima Mas Italian commando frogman unit), etc.

The strongest appeal of the watch is its legit military history, culture & utility as a sports watch. To this day, the COMSUBIN base maintains a small exhibit with historical timepieces & instruments made by G. Panerai & Figlio for the Regia Marina (Royal Italian Navy).

So yea, I can easily see people having a strong interest in buying an experience of a lifetime, and then getting a pretty cool souvenir to remember the occasion.

I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about. Wilde

I doubt it basic training, probably just a tame version. And no these seem gimicky to me
