BASELWORLD 2018 - Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph Collection Sat, 07 April 2018 15:07

Czapek & Cie unveils a new collection of chronographs. The Faubourg de Cracovie combines traditional refinement with the sportive twist of a chronograph function. The watch comes with three different dials that illustrate the outstanding quality of Swiss craftsmanship.

"Take the romantic nobility of our first watches and add a chronograph to give it some athletic pizzazz," says Czapek & Cie CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel. "That's our latest model, and it's unmistakably Czapek, traditional but with a modern flair."

The three new models are called "Grand Feu", "L'Heure Bleue" and "Dioné & Rhéa". While the explanation of the first name is evident, the other two have a romantic inspiration related to Nature. The "Heure Bleue", "Blue Hour", a nautical term, is a period of twilight in the morning and in the evening when the sun is below the horizon and the residual sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade. On a clear day, blue hour can be a colorful spectacle, treasured by many artists. "Dioné & Rhéa", instead, are two of the four moons of the planet Saturn, discovered by Italian astronomer Cassini and called so after two Titaness of Greek mythology. The two white satellites stand bright in the dark sky as the two subdials in the black guilloche dial of the eponymous model.

Technical Specifications:
The case, in stainless steel, measures 41.5mm x 14.6mm. It has a glass-box AR-coated sapphire crystal, sapphrie display back, and it is water resistant to 50 meters.

Movement is the Swiss automatic bespoke caliber SXH3 made by Vaucher Manufacture for Czapek. It has 42 jewels, 36,000 vph and a power reserve of 65 hours. Integrated column-wheel. Linear hammer, which reduces wear and tear on parts and resets all the associated dials in one movement. Vertical clutch ensures a perfect start for the chronograph hand. Vertical clutch coupling. It is sandblasted and diamond-polished, with anthracite bridges, and snailed trottoirs. It is COSC-certified as a chronometer. Functions are: hours, minutes, small seconds, date with semi-instant jump, chronograph with center seconds, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter. Stop seconds.

Dial options include: Grand Feu enamel dial with a secret signature "Czapek" in the small seconds sub-dial. Elongated Roman numerals, XII in scarlet red. Blued steel squeletonized hands. Galvanic blue hand-made guilloché dial in a special gold, silver, palladium and platinum plate. New iteration of the exclusive Czapek guilloché ricochet pattern with an 8/10th millimeter-wide groove. Steel rhodium-plated hands. Hand-made reverse "Panda" guilloché dial in a special gold, silver, palladium and platinum plate. New iteration of the exclusive Czapek guilloché ricochet pattern with an 8/10th millimeter-wide groove. Steel rhodium-plated hands.

It comes on a black, brown or blue alligator leather strap with steel deployant, or a black rubber strap.

MSRP is 24,000 Swiss Francs. Available as of June 30, 2018.

Thanks.
