Alien abduction? Tue, 19 December 2017 11:13 Go to next message

Just visited largest Rolex boutique in Las Vegas, perhaps largest in USA. Not one steel sports model in display...no subs, GMT, explorer, etc. A million gold, two tone versions, a million Date Just. AD says Rolex made "quota" early this year. Don't know what that means. But I cannot remember such a time in the 11 years I have owned a Rolex. Anyone have an idea what is going on?

Here's what I was told... Tue, 19 December 2017 11:54 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Rolex miscalculated demand in the US. They did not expect Americans would be as flush with cash. More watches coming in 1Q2018

And...here's what I was told last night by AD Tue, 19 December 2017 14:15 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Similar story but with a spin that Rolex was wildly successful in achieving sales goals this year, growth of xx%, etc.

Also, that after smaller ADs were eliminated several years ago, allocation model changed and then Rolex didn't anticipate US demand in 2017.

Who really knows. There's another long thread ~6 wks ago on this topic, below.

I suspected that some parties bought and saved many new Rolex sports watches. Such as new ceramic Daytona 116500LN, new Red Sea-Dweller 126600, GMT Master-II 116710BLNR and others. They think it's a good investment. You can check there are some parties selling new Rolex sports watches online.

True, the economy is doing very well here, in the US. Another factor may be that China has relaxed their policy of not allowing gifts (bribes) between companies and officials, and in the past, before these rules were in effect, sports watches were popular.

There are Rolex Explorers sitting in the window at CD Peacock in Oak Brook, IL.
