My 1968 GMT Mark I
Sat, 21 January 2017 15:17
I was walking around my work neighborhood here in Lower East Side and went in to a Chinese Restaurant for lunch. As I was having lunch I saw this elderly in front of me wearing this watch. I approached him and told him how pretty his watch was. Gave him my calling card and said to call me should he decide to sell it. Almost a year passed by and no calls. Then one day he did and the rest is history. He could not find the box and paper. I brought it to my watchmaker and he had a hard time opening it. That was almost 10 years ago.Hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I do. The dial has turned chocolate brown now. With the original bracelet ( I believe C and I USA)and look at the case!!!

I have one just like it, vintage 1971. Bought it out of the Pacex military catalog for $202, best $202 I ever spent. It is my daily wearer and still runs just like new.
Your bezel is much brighter than mine, very beautiful watch and a great find.
Boy has that been on my list! Would complete my "Birth Year" set.

Here is my 1968 Red Sub and '68 Speedmaster. The Sub as been restored, the Speedy still needs work. My goal is to get a '68 GMT to round out the set of classic watches for my birth year.
Someday I plan to write a post on the acquisition and restoration of my Red Sub, it turned into quite a story that has amused many of my watch friends.
