Cartier Tank Mecanique Case sizes? 33.5 x 25.5 ever exist? Fri, 11 March 2016 09:06 Go to next message

Hello

I'm aware that the most common size was 30x23mm for the manual wind tanks in YG/WG/PT

Did they ever make them slightly larger in 33.5 x 25.5?

thanks for the help!

The CPCP version of the Tank Louis Cartier was 33,5 x 25,5 and the XL CPCP version was 30 x 29,2.
Both mechanical with manual winding.
Pictured here the XL CPCP and the pre CPCP with dimensions 33,5 x 25,5
Hope I understood your question correct.

Hi and thanks

OK so that's interesting! Any idea how many CPCP and Pre-CPCP were made in 33,5 x 25,5? I've seen several tank LC with "Paris" dial but only 30 x 23

Also would you have by any chance a side by side of these vs the common 30 x 23?

regards

(These measurements are outer case measurements including lugs / excluding crown?)

From the small version I have no production numbers, the XL was around 250 pieces in pink gold and
50 in platinum, but Dino knows these facts better.
As far as I know, there have not been 30 x 23 Tanks with Paris on the dial, unless they are really old.
Collection Privée only had two sizes and before and after CPCP there was never Paris underneath the logo on the dial,
except for some very first models ever.
Unfortunately I can't help with a side by side pic of these vs the common 30 x 23,
since I never handled the 30 x 23.
Measurements are without crown indeed.

From my own research and handlings in the past, the most common mens manual wind LC tank measures 30x23mm

After doing a bit of reading over the past hours it seems that 33.5x25.5 was the standard tank size?

http://www.[URL removed]/louis-cartier-king-of-tanks/

I'm confused now because to date the 33.5x25.5 version has proven to be elusive (in europe at least!) I can only find one in platinum (no paris on dial), however i can find plenty manual wind LCs in 30x23 - including the WG version i own, which i find a tad too small for my wrist. Hence my excitement when i learned of a slightly larger manual wind version...

there is also the rare automatic bubble back version which i was lucky enough to try but find a little oversized at 35x28mm

Cool that you read my article "Louis Cartier King of Tanks"!
33.5x25.5 was indeed the standard tank size, even the Must the Cartier had the same dimensions,
at least the mens model.
Please bear in mind that only the Tanks Louis Cartier, that were produced between 1998 and 2008,
for the CPCP collection, had Paris underneath the brand name.
Since some time there is not a decent mechanical Tank Louis Cartier in the collection, what I regret.
Only the quartz version with a date window at 3.
The rare automatic bubble back version, that you mention is not bad at all, if you don't mind the bubble back.
I like the styling, proportions and dimensions and it is just a little larger.

All these dimensions made me confused too, sorry about that
33.5x25.5 was not the standard tank size, 30x23mm it is!

...for a moment there I thought my Tank wasn't the standard size!

Slight clarification... Tue, 15 March 2016 09:49 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Hi Guys,

I can never remember the exact number of pink gold Tank XL's produced. Therefore, I went back to check production figures for the CPCP Tank XL that is pictured above. Cartier produced 50 in platinum and 200 in pink gold.

Best regards,
Dino
