NEW: Gucci GRAMMY Museum Timepiece
Wed, 08 February 2012 10:12
In anticipation of the 54th annual GRAMMY Awards and to launch the GRAMMY Museum's Music Preservation Program, Creative Director Frida Giannini designed the Gucci GRAMMY Museum timepiece. This special variation of the i-Gucci Sport timepiece will be launched at a private event at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles. The timepiece is distinguished by a grey colorway, including a grey PVD case, as well as the bezel inscription, "GRAMMY Museum Gucci Limited Edition".
Since 2010, proceeds from the Gucci GRAMMY watch and jewelry collection have benefitted the GRAMMY Museum's music preservation initiative. Donated proceeds have digitally remastered and preserved over 30 recordings and nine original compositions by legendary jazz performer Thomas "Fats" Waller (1904-1943). Fats Waller played the piano and organ and was an accomplished singer, songwriter, music producer and comedic entertainer. His music and performance style influenced the likes of Count Basie and Louis Armstrong and many of his songs, like "Honeysuckle Rose", "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Squeeze Me", have become jazz classics.
The restoration and preservation of these recordings mark an historic moment in music. These newly restored music gems will be officially presented by Gucci Timepieces and Jewelry at the GRAMMY Museum on Saturday, 11 February 2012. After the presentation, Oscar and Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson will perform an unplugged set of songs to officially kick off the Music Preservation Program.
The Gucci GRAMMY Museum benefits music restoration & preservation
In an extra large (49 mm) size, the i-Gucci Sport features a range of technical elements including a digital time and dual time-zone display, date and alarm. The Gucci GRAMMY Museum timepiece boasts the latest functionalities, including a dual chronograph movement, countdown timer, tachymeter and two useful sports settings in the form of a pedometer and sailing option, designed to be used when timing regattas. The Gucci GRAMMY Museum timepiece also features a backlight and analogical time display with local time shown in hands, rather than digits. The "Swiss Made" stamp appears at 6 o'clock. The case back features the GRAMMY Museum logo.
The dial is created in striking colors of black and yellow, complemented with a strap in coordinating black rubber overlaid with metallic anthracite Guccissima patent calf leather. The Gucci Grammy Museum is the third timepiece of the Gucci GRAMMY collection, which includes the i-Gucci GRAMMY in yellow gold PVD and the i-Gucci Latin GRAMMY in pink gold PVD.
I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about. Wilde
