N E W M o d e l – Zenith Grande Port-Royal Tourbillon Chronograph Thu, 10 August 2006 09:13 Go to next message

From Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy’s premier watch brand Zenith, comes the new Port-Royal Tourbillon Chronograph.

Movement is the automatic El Primero caliber 4007 with 35 jewels, beating at 36,000 bph and with a power reserve of 50 hours. This caliber is made of 298 pieces and features a heavy metal rotor, decorated in the “Zenith Damier” pattern.

The case, done in black Titanium, measures 36mm X 51mm. It has doubled curved AR coated sapphire crystals. It is water resistant to 50 meters. The dial is done in 18kt white gold, grill shaped and on top of a sapphire glassplate.

The Tourbillon carriage is positioned at 11 o’clock and is a one-minute Tourbillon. The chronograph’s 30-minute counter is located at 3 o’clock and the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock.

Thanks.

Jorge.

Odd watch. Silly ad. Sat, 12 August 2006 00:51 Go to previous messageGo to next message

Did they really print Tourbillon on the face? I guess w/ practice you could read the dial. Where is Zenith going?

I love my Rainbow Elite. It is a perfect watch to me...simple, beautiful, quality... Some of the new Zenith stuff just looks like cheap trash that I would be embarrased to wear.

Agree with you... Tue, 15 August 2006 16:49 Go to previous messageGo to next message

On the bright side, Zenith still makes excellent watch movements.

Cheers,
Joel

I feel sorry for the peope who are designing watches for Zenith. This watch looks like an outside vent from a public toilet, except it doesn't come cheap!

I would be interested to know whether the watchmakers (that is the people who are manufacturing the movement with the much desired tourbillon in that piece) are happy to see their art end up that way?!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH! I would flush that thing three times until it is gone, gone, gone!! That thing is absolutely hideous!! I hope that the Zenith execs read this message board so that they know when they created a real turd.

It's hard to believe that that watch came from the same company as this one... Tue, 22 August 2006 21:55 Go to previous messageGo to next message

I guess they want enough young rich famous sportspeople to buy their watches and lift the brand profile. Personally I like form to complement function, not obliterate it. The huge metal things with stars and fans everywhere (and this one) all look daft to me. I do like the rugged ccases and straps though.

neil Current watches; Zenith Class Sport El Primero Hand Wind 2005, Breitling Superocean 2002, Raymond Weil Don Giovani Chronograph 2001, Citizen Aqualand Analogue 2000, Seiko Macchina Sportiva by Giugiaro 1996, Tag Heuer Formula 1 (1993). Still want a Rolex sport model.....
